Barbara Glanznig
KPJAYI authorized
I first came in contact with Ashtanga Yoga in 2001, and with time and some experience, cultivating a sattvic lifestyle and consistent practice became cornerstones of my life. The Ashtanga Yoga system is complex and has incredible power to transform and I wanted to learn this method the old fashioned way: being mentored closely by an experienced teacher.
Senior Ashtanga Yoga teacher and lineage holder Annie Pace, who received her Advanced B certification directly from Pattabhi Jois, took me in as her apprentice in 2015. I continued to practice with her until she closed her shala recently due to health problems.
Additionally, I have travelled to Mysore annually since 2016 to study traditional Hindustani music with the late Mrs. Reena Mukherjii, Yogic tradition, pranayama and philosophy with Dr. KLS Jois, as well as asana, pranayama and chanting with R. Saraswathi Jois at the Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute.
It has been an immense honor to assist R. Saraswathi Jois in her busy shala in Mysore and in 2020 I received her blessing and the rare, official authorization to teach.
In addition to leading my own programs, I have assisted Annie Pace, as well as Christine Hoar (Ashtanga Montauk, NY), whom I now continue to practice with.
"It has been a joy to witness Barbara evolve since 2015. She exhibits a wisdom beyond her years, and is quick to grasp the deeper meanings and "old school" approach to the practice. Barbara has been able to aptly step into various roles of assistance for me (she never knows what she will be called upon to do around Shakti Sharanam...) When I work with her students I see the results of her own authentic teaching, and the joy of practice prevails!" Annie Pace, Shakti Sharanam, Crestone (CO)
“Babs understands the beauty and sacred nature of the teachings and promotes these aspects of the practice by actions big and small: creating lovely altar offerings, chanting sacred mantra and prayers, reading scripture, and holding compassionate space. I look forward to sharing the teaching space again and again with her.” Christine Hoar, Ashtanga Yoga & Ayurveda, Montauk (NY).
